I love spending an evening listening to live music, there’s some very talented musicians around. So here’s a run through of some of the concerts I’ll be at between now and Christmas.
Scott Matthews – Middlesbrough Town Hall – 20 September 2022
Scotts first album was released in 2006, but its more recently that I have started listening to his music. And I’m delighted to see him doing a show, so close to the workshop. Really excited about this concert.
George Boomsma & Phillip Jonathan – The Engine Room – 2 October 2022
Workshop favourite George Boomsma will be playing at The Engine Room, North Shields in October, and it’s a perfect chance to hear some new songs that he’s been writing and recording, as well as his past tunes. Well worth seeing!
Also, on the same evening is Phillip Jonathan, and if you like George’s music, you’ll surely like Phillips music too!
Luke Sital-Singh – Cluny 2, Newcastle – 6 October 2022
I’ve been wanting to see Luke in concert for a long time, and have been listening to his music since his early releases. Luke moved out to America a few years ago, so I’m glad to see him back in England for a tour. Check out the other dates if you can’t make this one!
Andrew Cushin – NX, Newcastle – 21 October
Andrew is definitely a talent you should all be keeping tabs on. He has played a McClaren guitar for years, and plays it every gig! He’s a great guy, and his shows just get better and better. He’s doing a full 14 date UK tour, beginning on the 5 October in Leeds. Make sure you make one of them.
Katherine Priddy & John Smith – The Fire Station, Sunderland –
2 November 2022
I have seen both musicians numerous times on separate occasions, so to see them both together is a real treat. As you may know, Katherine plays a McClaren P-16 at all her concerts and its always a joy to see her playing it on stage. This isn’t the only date the two will be playing together, they are heading up and down the whole country. You can see the rest of the dates on Katherine’s website.
Tedeschi Trucks Band – 02 Apollo, Manchester – 9 November 2022
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen Derek Trucks playing guitar, yet everytime I see him, I’m blown away. His technique for slide guitar is just out of this world, bringing another dimension to the sound of the guitar. Along with his wife Susan Tedeschi, and their 12 piece band, they create a fantastic evening of music, through their extensive list of songs.
Jamie Grey – Georgian Theatre, Stockton- On-Tees – 12 November 2022
Jamie is a very talented singer / songwriter, with an amazing voice and plays both piano and guitar when performing. Not only has Jamie written songs for worldwide musicians but he releases some impressive songs under his own name. Jamie owns a McClaren P-16, and uses it to help write a lot of his songs.
This concert features his new band for the first time, so its one I’m definitely looking forward to!
